More than 1,000 Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks are being recalled because of a problem with their throttle petals.
The National Highway Safety Administration's notification of the recall said, "The throttle pedal assembly may contain an oversized magnet carrier, slowing the responsiveness or causing the pedal to stick." This, according to the agency, could increase chances of a crash.
Kenworths covered by the recall are:
- model year 2024 T180
- model year 2023-2024 T280
- model year 2023-2024 T380
- model year 2023-2024 T40
Peterbilts covered by the recall are:
- model year 2023-2024 535
- model year 2023-2024 536
- model year 2023-2024 537
- model year 2023-2024 548
NHTSA said dealers will inspect and replace the throttle pedal as necessary, free of charge.
NHTSA's campaign number is 25V-014.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 17.
